Hossein Batooie is an Iranian immigrant living in Colorado. In 2025, he was sent to the concentration camp known as the Denver Contract Detention Facilityas part of a larger operation to detain Iranian nationals during the war between Israel and the U.S. against Iran. Hossein has been in the USA 26 years. in 2004, Hossein Batooie was granted legal status by an immigration judge after seeking asylum. He reports that solitary confinement and transportation is being used to "torment" people into giving up their cases, signing papers, and self deporting. He tells the tragic story of his friend who after 6 months in solitary, and multiple transfers to detainment facilities around the country in desperation gave up and signed his own deportation papers. He was deported back to Iran where he was killed by the regime. The interview was filmed at the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC). Hossein's account can be found in the Mr. Grievances Audio Visual Exhibit a part of From Many Paths One Home: The Colorado Story. The artist had compiled some of Hossein's ICE grievances along with audio to create a powerful art piece on the wall behind him. The exhibit and event by co_immigrant Video Source
