Anthropic, the company behind the Claude artificial-intelligence assistant, disclosed $895.4 billion in purchase and lease commitments—mostly for computing capacity and infrastructure—in an amended U.S. securities filing on Nov. 2. The filing reported third-quarter revenue of $16.96 billion, up 47% from the prior quarter and more than twelvefold from a year earlier, as the company prepares to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. The company swung to a $567 million operating loss in the quarter from a $974 million operating profit in the second quarter. Anthropic attributed part of the change to $5 billion in short-term computing capacity that cost more than capacity under its multiyear contracts, as well as a $2 billion noncash expense for matching employee donations. Its adjusted operating margin fell to 15% from 19% [euronews.com][techcrunch.com][yahoo.com]. The commitments extend over several years: about $69.8 billion is due within 12 months after Sept. 30, and $447.5 billion by the end of 2030; roughly $213.8 billion is cancellable or conditional. Anthropic held $131.8 billion in cash and short-term investments at the quarter’s end. Reports said the investor roadshow could begin as early as Nov. 10, with a listing in the week of Nov. 16, but the filing does not set a date [euronews.com][technews.city][saastr.com]. Highlights: • Enterprise customers: Anthropic said more than 11,900 customers spent at least $100,000 annually by Sept. 30, compared with more than 950 a year earlier; more than 1,900 spent over $1 million [saastr.com]. • Supplier exposure: The filing lists $161.2 billion in Broadcom equipment leases, at least $121.3 billion for Google, up to $120.5 billion for SpaceX capacity and at least $110 billion for Amazon [yahoo.com][technews.city]. • Usage restrictions: Anthropic estimated that customers violating its usage rules or commercial terms generated 5% to 7% of revenue in the first nine months of 2026, and warned stricter enforcement could reduce future growth [euronews.com]. • AI safety threshold: Anthropic said it may soon approach its defined threshold for AI-driven acceleration of AI research, which it warned could pose a considerable safety risk; it has not classified a current model as crossing that threshold [euronews.com]. • Market expectations: Some institutional investors reportedly lowered their valuation expectations to about $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion, from roughly $2 trillion discussed earlier [euronews.com][calcalistech.com]. Perspectives: White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett argued that AI financing remains plentiful and said large technology companies such as Microsoft and Amazon could support startups if they encounter funding difficulties [edigest.hk].
