Apple began testing iOS 27.3 and related software betas on Nov. 3, expanding Siri AI’s ability to act across apps and giving third-party developers a preview of integrations [macrumors.com][cultofmac.com][9to5mac.com]. The update also restores Apple’s redesigned Health app, adds vertical tabs and an adaptive dark mode to Safari, and introduces Live Rewind and Siri Recap for testing on the latest Apple Watch models [macrumors.com][macrumors.com][macrumors.com]. Siri can now organize files, schedule messages and manage browser tabs across Apple apps; developers can use App Intents and “skills” to connect their own apps and combine steps into one request [macrumors.com][digitaltrends.com][9to5mac.com]. Apple Intelligence features are also entering beta in China, including writing tools, image cleanup and translation, but the initial rollout excludes the newer Siri AI [macrumors.com][9to5mac.com]. The watch features listen for conversations when enabled. Apple says audio is not recorded or stored, while lawyers in several U.S. states have warned that the tools could conflict with consent laws [9to5mac.com][thenextweb.com]. Apple is targeting a December public release for the software updates, while third-party Siri integrations are expected to reach customers in 2027 [macobserver.com][digitaltrends.com]. Highlights: • Health metrics: The redesigned Health app’s Longevity tab compares data such as VO₂ max, resting heart rate and sleep with chronological age; users can also add lab results, including A1c and LDL cholesterol [9to5mac.com][macrumors.com]. • Watch safeguards: Live Rewind displays a transcript of the previous 15 seconds after a double-press of the Digital Crown, while Siri Recap automatically deletes summaries after seven days unless they are saved; both features are opt-in [macrumors.com][9to5mac.com]. • China rollout: Apple uses Alibaba’s Qwen model for some Apple Intelligence functions in China [macrumors.com][appleinsider.com]. • Fitness plans: Fitness+ Gym Strength builds four-week plans around a user’s schedule and available equipment, drawing on more than 350 exercises and over 30 equipment types [macrumors.com][reddit.com]. • Language expansion: The beta adds Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish and Norwegian to Siri AI, bringing the total number of supported languages to 10 [9to5mac.com]. Perspectives: Apple: Live Rewind plays an audible chime when activated, even if the watch is on silent, signaling that the feature is in use [9to5mac.com]. (9to5Mac) The Verge reviewer Victoria Song said early testing showed that Siri can make mistakes in transcripts and cautioned that the developer beta was too new for a full assessment [theverge.com].
